Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Noteo: Voice Recorder ("the App"), provided by codelio ("we", "us", "our"), handles your information. By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Process
- Audio recordings you create with the App.
- Transcripts generated from your recordings.
- Device permissions you grant, such as microphone access.
- Basic technical data (e.g. app version, device model, OS version) used to operate and improve the App and diagnose problems.
We do not require an account to use the core recording feature, and we do not ask for more personal information than is needed to provide the App.
2. Where Your Data Is Stored
Your recordings and transcripts are stored on your device. We do not upload your recordings to our own servers for storage.
3. Transcription and Third-Party Processing
The App offers two transcription modes:
- On-device transcription — performed entirely on your device using Apple's WhisperKit. Your audio does not leave your device for transcription.
- Cloud transcription — segments of your audio are transmitted to a third-party cloud transcription provider (currently OpenAI, L.L.C.), which converts the audio to text and returns the transcript. This audio is processed transiently to produce your transcript.
You choose the transcription mode in the App's settings. If you do not want any audio to leave your device, use on-device transcription.
We do not sell your recordings or transcripts, and we do not authorize their use to train third-party models. Third-party providers process data under their own privacy policies; OpenAI's policy is available at https://openai.com/policies.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information solely to: provide recording and transcription, operate and maintain the App, and diagnose and fix technical issues. We do not use your recordings or transcripts for advertising, and the App does not track you across other apps or websites.
5. Microphone Access
The App requests microphone access only to record audio when you start a recording. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings; recording will not function without it.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Recordings and transcripts remain on your device until you delete them. Deleting a recording in the App removes it (and its transcript) from your device. Audio sent for cloud transcription is processed transiently and is not retained by us.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g. the EU/EEA under GDPR, or California under the CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because your content is stored on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly within the App. For other requests, contact us using the details below.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS/TLS) for any data sent for cloud transcription. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The version and effective date at the top of this document indicate the current revision. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
